This tea comes from the Yame region, which is known for its mild flavoured teas. This particular one is a seasonal tea, which is made from fresh new leaves picked in the early spring. These are then stored during the summer months to give extra flavour.
‘Genmai’ tea has a nutty flavour. This particular ‘Genmai’ tea is made with roasted rice, ‘Matcha’ tea (Powder tea which is used for tea ceremony) and ‘Sencha’ tea. Normally ‘Genmai’ tea is known as ‘cheap and cheerful’, but in this case, the careful combination makes for a superior flavour. The deep green colour comes from the ‘Matcha’ tea powder.
